The Young Scholars Fund
Dedicated to empowering young mothers enrolled in colleges and universities by providing them with essential resources to thrive academically and personally. This fund offers scholarships for tuition, childcare, diapers, food, and other vital necessities. Additionally, it facilitates mentoring partnerships to support our young scholars as they prepare for graduation and transition into the workforce, fostering their growth and success, one mother at a time.
The Books & Backpacks Initiative
Committed to uplifting youth literacy and fostering academic success in Title I elementary schools. We provide essential backpacks filled with school supplies and books to students impacted by poverty. Each year, GFWC empowers over 300 children in Washington, DC, helping them to thrive and achieve their dreams through education. Together, we can transform lives, one child at a time.
The Holiday Hearts Initiative
Ensuring that no child in the Washington, DC region wakes up on Christmas morning without a gift. We provide new toys and heartfelt gifts to children from economically insecure families, bringing joy and hope during the holiday season. To date, GFWC has delivered thousands of new toys and books, transforming dreams into reality for countless families. Our mission is to support parents in creating magical moments for their children, reminding them that they are not alone and that their dreams matter. Together, we can spread love and joy, one gift at a time.
The Caring Coats Project
Believing that every child deserves the warmth and comfort of a new winter coat, we provide new winter coats, hats, and gloves to children in need throughout the Washington, DC region. Each year, GFWC distributes hundreds of coats, ensuring that vulnerable children stay warm during the cold months. Our commitment to giving inspires our community, fostering a spirit of compassion and support that uplifts us all. Together, we can make a difference, one coat at a time.
